<<<RAG and FLAG 2005>>>

Watz the big deal abt trash conversion? For those who nvr had the chance to step anywhr near the construction scene (due to the stiff competition btwn facs and halls. Oh, and I found those despicably-disturbing incidents childish, wth, with eggs throwing and flashing of third fingers made of cardboards and escpg on a lorry. Duh, if u have guts to do it,why not show ur faces?),I was fortunate to witness the birth of those miraculous bulk.

Non-living floats that came alive with the hard work of many committed float designers, diligent engineers, enthusiastic mass production/costume designer, creative dance choreographers, flexible dancers, etc. I saw this on Sheares Board in their communal hall{EVERY LINE,EVERY CAN,EVERY CUT COUNTS!} Yes, each indv plays a part to contributing to the overall teamwork. I have also seen how Raffles rag team helped one anthr when a particular section is done w their duties, despite how sieh and shagged they ran on slpless marathons. Maybe hall spirit is only inherent to those who have gone thru such events.

1220am Pretty exciting to watch the preparation at SRC. My current room this sem oversees SRC. Yes, the tennis courts are juz right below my windows. Wooohooo…Can see NUSSU peeps moving chairs for the VIPs and the tables etc .Floats gradually transported to their respective display areas. BizAd float was the first fac float to arrive, ushered in by its madly cheering creators. Eussoff also steadied on as the leading hall float to register its attendance. Damn the loudhailers to call for traffic. (At 2am, a guy from 8th floor was shoutg SHUT UP! Yah rite, u think they can hear u? Even if they did, wld they care? They are CARRYING OUT THEIR RIGHTFUL DUTIES, doing sound checks. Either u stuff ear plugs, or swallow some slpg pills. The rest cant be helped. NUSSU are followg instructions from ABOVE.)
4am Almost all floats came in. But my excitement subsided and my eyelids were drooping.Yawn…smsed some gdnites and plopped into bed. Darn. The music is still freakingly blasting at SRC. How am I supposed to slp?

6am Frens complaint of hunger pangs. So, sent some biscuits and drinks to SRC. Woosh. Saw Rachel beside Sci Float. She was in her serious mode once again, trying to coordinate the touching up process. Only 10 pple allowed in the assigned area.Hmm, beta dun get in her way. Jian Lun and gang lost their crappy selves. Exhaustion were written all ovr their faces. Gave them a pat each. Jia You! Shan Qing and Jennifer, my fella OGL last FOW, hee, still a cute couple. Asked me not to eat snake when they saw me. Haha, look whuz toking loh! No welfare for u two, lol… Bumped into several BPGHS and NJC klazmates as well. Zhiguang and his sudden enthusiasm shocked me, haha…(but it faded tat nite on MSN) Yihong with his usual cool attitude. Dentist Daylene and Big Serene, my B Blkers da-jie! One in shocking pink and anthr in IHG shirt, still lao yang zi. Pose turned out to be a valley btwn 2 peaks. ^_^

9am Majullah Singapura anthem. (hmm, I faithfully sang this tune for yrs) Awaken by sis knocking on my door. My digicam is here! Uhoo! Hurriedly rushed to SRC and bumped into Chan Lee. haha, think my hair was in a mess then. But who cares, my pics are waiting for me!

Snapped quite some shots of the floats! You wld nvr believe they were born from trash! Like the costumes, certain designs were recycles of previous yrs. But, fresh ideas sprang in some floats too! A KPO-ing stroll ard the track entangled many friendship webs from previous sems. Mien Huei complaint of her validator role and how unfair the judging was for her hall. , Wenn Keung and his longer-and-still-getting-longer-hair, haha, almost gave him a miss, wat a heavily painted face! OK, all in the status of A Blk Blk head…Hrmmphh, dare to suan my ht again, beware of pimples ltr! LoL. Eehhh, familiar figure admists the cheering crowd, WATZ my lab partner, Jie Xiang, carryg a pro cam ard? Orh, photographer for the day! I noe whu to turn to if my shots aren’t upclose enuff…*Wink* No wonder Grace did not show up for harmonica practs lately. Too involved in Orientation and RaG. And she didn’t know I used to be from KR, of coz la, low profile gal..hee hee... Quickly rtrn ah, sect2 lacks pple desperately! Jia Hwee dyed his hair in a messy yellow (Oppz. tatz wat Joan said when I met her on ISB…not me, not me…haha) Yi Ling is no longer stayg in Temasek Hall, bunkg w his EE course mates.(Still paiseh 4not gg to his TH prdtn last sem, sigh)

Sent on a mission to shoot pics for TH. Squeezed myself into the alumni stand. Hee, dun ask me how.NUSSU security relaxed twds the presentation of hall floats. And I saw Siow Sen, my fella Tchg Awardee, whuz NUSSU-linked, so…hee…it was a breeze to duck my way. For tt moment, I proclaimed myself as an alumni of 2 yrs past graduation. (White lie.) Caught ChietYen and gang for a quick chat. We were actually screaming against announcements. Lotza KR alumni seated there. JCRC, SCRC. Some super-super-snrs/team captains. Belinda,CJ,Lynn and Teresa were back too. Hugged Teresa hard. Missed this power-puff hero soooo much aft she graduated. Still rmb her chocs and her msges for helpg in board decoration and angel-mortal game. She thanked me for my friendsters msges,wah, I almost 4got le. Belinda is still as comical. CJ and Lynn are still icy queens, but still, we managed a smile. Fella 4th floor mates and IBG Bballers aft all. And how can I not mention this adorably-pinchable-baby,( reckon the baby wld suffer an intensive crowd phobia aft our consistent shrills) thrown high into the air as we celebrated the vibrancy of 100 yrs old heritage! There was even a homecoming float from Class 1972.Uncles and Aunties young at heart!

Super neat presentation from Sheares Hall! Think they stand a high chance this yr! (Yeah, my predictions were rite on!) Kent Ridge had the same signs for their cheer leading. Oh, Zhi Qian was one of the cheerleaders for Sheares.(Aaha, Mdm Chus comments on him was indeed funny! Hes there in law for a reason! Totally agree. A talent ought to be flaunted.)
THE FINAL SHOWDOWN. Announcement of winners.
A moment of anticipation, so precious to those who toiled and sweat. For the BIG winners like SDE, Sheares,Sci, all those long, slp-insufficient nites of continuous labour finally paid off! But there can only be one winner in any race, so juz wana console those disheartened souls that all is not lost. You lost the shield but you gained much more. Whatever the case, Great job, all raggers! You guys slogged hard and it is time to tk a gd rest aft the clearing and tidying.

On the othr hand, my dear Kent Ridgeans were all bowing their heads down, solemn and most of all, disappointed. I rmbed my silent tears during my first yr of stay, for I was involved in the last hour rush in rag detailing as a freshie. All the hands-on added sentiments to what others label trash. Holding on to one anthr for strength, the circle grew larger until it became a large teardrop beside the victorious Orange Shearites. I wished Cindy was there with me then. I cld hug her for comfort. She is the best confidant I had in KR. We share quite some commonalities. But she too, was forced to stay of campus this sem. Sigh, one soul mate down. Hope she will still come ovr to rot in my room if she can afford the time. Gonna miss her and Kenneth+ their bullshitting craps during those late nite suppers at RVR.

My beloved Sci Fac swept 4 shields too! Haha, Jeremy (HuiWens bf ) happened to be the rag director this rag. Erm, no, [happened…] is too mild a word. I shd say, Jeremy pledged to be rag director AGAIN. I respect this guy from afar. Behind his distant carriage (haha, in hokkien terms, dao), his determination and vision to brg back a rag title for Sci Fac was, simply, beyond natures call. He had dreams AND the gut to pregnant his dreams. That is what differentiates a mucho guy, a real masculine trait that charms me. Finally got my hands on the shields. Haha, the Sci guys ,Wee Tong and gang, polluted the shields w their kisses and saliva lah…Eeeks, gotta sterilize them b4 display in sci club room with Patch Bear. MeiXIn and HuiWen both lost their sexy voices. But it was a worthwhile sacrifice for Sci Fac.Ok, forced Hui Wen to dump Jeremy for a while to tk pics with ME AND THE SHIELD! Hahaha…Sorie Jeremy! Juz a moment k! RBR loan…hee. Surprisingly reunited with Xiao Wen, my mortal in NJC jnr S6H klaz. She is doing life sciences now. Small world hor? So the paranoma pic of Sci Fac float and US(United Science) is perhaps gonna be my last flag and rag day memory. Kheng Moh and Tony kept accusing me of not helpg Sci Fac this rag yr, insisting SHeares Hall guys more shuai to charm me into helpg them. Aiyo, pls lah. Im not that shallow k. Nway, its coz ive got a few chemistry mates in Sheares. And Gavin actually asked me for help. So, on account of our friendship, well, well… Moreover, Sci fac strengthened their manpower this yr nway…so shd cope juz fine. Dun try to mk me feel guilty alrite? I did my fair share of contribution to sci Fac too.

My humble contribution was that few coins donated to our own flaggers. Haha, I wasn’t as calculative as Desmond, who dropped coins only if he made certain they went into science fac cans…well, since I wasnt in FLAG shirt, some engin guys approached me for donation…But they addressed me as [xiao-mei.wld u like to donate?] Ahem. im your snr loh. Show some respect. Hmm, nvm, dun yi fan jian shi w [xiao dis], secretly smiled at how young I can look, dropped my coins and off I went for lunch. And this yr freshies were damn enthu, tatz y we got best total coin collection! Tq, 3 full cans each from my freshies-freshies! Zia rite?

I can go on and on…But this RAG 2005 made me do things I wldnt on usual days. Some weird behaviors, unexplained by the Law of Large numbers… (ah, crap!) Things I am contemplating whether to reveal to my parents. I trust them to trust me. That is really gd enuf. And I shd maintain it henceforth. I know what im doing and I stand firm to my convictions.
