To have a friend, be a friend.
This is one of the postcards I have in my current room. And it speaks of my mentality twds friendships.
At times, it does not really matter how long u have known a person. Time does not guarantee the durability of a friendship. There are friendships which collapsed under the test of time (or/and distance).It is whether u take the time and effort to know the othr party and to SUSTAIN the bond. Inevitably, the longer u know someone, the better the mutual understanding. Yet, we do not usually open up our inner selves to every passing stranger. The secret formulation to the depth and breadth of sharing still remains mysterious to me.
You may be klazmates, seeing each othr for lessons day in day out. But if the level of interaction hovers ard ritualized Hi-bye greetings, well, the track stops at the dead end.You may be hall mates for years but not know the habits of that person if u fail to observe him. That is when either one keeps behind closed doors. People find it hard to step into our world. But, again, wldnt we be too vulnerable shd we decide to expose our hearts to all? The selectiveness to trust is still there, for the basic need to self-defend.
A new found fren may be promoted to high ranking personnel in my heart directory on accelerated trajectories. Similarly, demotions may occur overtime. But to that fren, he really gave me a comfortable feeling, of being at ease with being myself. I have no worries sharing sentimental issues w him. It is not easy to find someone to disclose your phobias and dreams.
The silly craps we ramble juz livens me up! We can joke ard and not be offended.(Hmm, maybe we both have big hearts ..haha, or perhaps we juz choose to laugh it off light-heartedly.) A pure joy to be ard, comfort exudes whenever im with him. He offered the most sincere critique, well-meaning feedback.. And im grateful, since it is directed at my best interests.
Our numerous smses exchged are short, but sweet. Simple qns of howz ur day and gentle reminders conveyed the genuine concerns showered and I have tendency to melt at most tender care expressed. ^_^ (In addition to sappy guitar tunes, awww ) And I save them, to remind myself of my future reciprocity. (Free flow of honey/milo? Hee..)
Such are the simple gestures of humane connection. Im so very touched. I may not say it, but it ripples a thankful resonance of gratefulness for having you as my fren. TTSDM, EDHK! (This is the exclsv Morse Code comprehensible by the only both of us! hahaha *P )
Thanks so much for being my trusted fren! I hope to know you better. May the green light flash as we pause at each traffic jxn in our lives!
